CAMP
Alandale
C
amp Alandale is a Christian camp which ministers to abused and neglected children through a mountain camping program. The purpose of Camp Alandale is to expose abused and neglected children to the life-changing and healing reality of Jesus Christ and to help equip them to have meaningful, productive lives. Since 1980, thousands of these special children have been touched by Jesus with the help of many volunteer counselors. Children, ages 9-18, come to camp for a week in the summer and a weekend in the winter. Campers are invited back every year until they graduate from high school. All of the campers are wards of the court and most are living in group homes or foster homes in Orange and San Diego Counties.
Mike and Lisa Towler have worked with Camp Alandale since 1998, although, Mike heard about camp much earlier as a high schooler. He became a junior counselor at the age of 17 and made lasting bonds with many of the people at camp. Shortly after Mike and Lisa were married, they became involved with camp by leading worship. They found a deep love for the campers and watched as God grew their hearts into a life of loving the fatherless.
In 2001, they were blessed with the opportunity to co-direct a summer camp, which was the turning point toward Mike and Lisa devoting their life to serving Christ at Camp Alandale. In 2002 they were invited to come on full time as assistant directors. Sent out by CCEA, God has blessed them and a made a way for them to be serving full time at Camp Alandale.
In 2006 Mike and Lisa were made the Orange County Directors of Camp Alandale. As a part of this job they were given the task of training up other couples to start camps in other countries.
Mike and Lisa currently live in the small community if Idyllwild, about 3 miles from camp, with their two children, Charles and Grace.
